“Fine with me,” David agreed.
They got to the Village and parked. They began walking
south. David noticed everything. The Village seemed not to
have changed much and it had conserved all of its charm.
Jennifer had left her sunglasses in the car, so David was able
to see her disconcerting ebony eyes again. He decided to
break the silence.
“Didn’t you say you love talking while you walk?”
“Yes, I did. The reason I’m quiet is I’m a little surprised
by your behavior, and I was just wondering about it.”
“What have I done to surprise you?” David asked, afraid
of having put his foot in his mouth without realizing it.
“Nothing specific,” Jennifer answered.
“Then, what are you surprised about?”
“I don’t exactly know. It was more of a feeling than
anything concrete. I’m sorry, David, I shouldn’t have said
anything. Sometimes I let myself get carried away by my
other great passion: psychology.”
“So, am I going to be continually analyzed all day? I hope
you’ll give me a diagnosis when we’re done,” said David
with a friendly grin.
